Cody Rhodes is making it clear that Pat McAfee’s growing role in WWE storylines hasn’t gone unnoticed, and he didn’t hold back when explaining why the situation raised concerns for him.

While speaking on Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast, Rhodes talked about McAfee suddenly becoming a major part of the WrestleMania storyline involving Randy Orton. Instead of focusing only on the angle itself, Rhodes shifted attention to the people around McAfee and what he believes might be missing behind the scenes.

Rhodes explained that when someone rises quickly into major storylines, especially heading into WrestleMania, there needs to be at least one voice willing to question decisions. From his point of view, that doesn’t seem to be happening right now.

As he described what he’s been seeing, Rhodes pointed to a recent moment on television that stuck with him while he was in the ring.

“What I would say is right now what I've seen is everyone around Pat McAfee — his orbit — probably someone needs to say no every now and then. That seems like a dangerous group of people… you need that one guy in the room to be like, ‘I don't know, man.’ Jumping into the WrestleMania main event… also while I was getting my ass kicked in the ring the other night, looking up and he's wearing shades… like he put the shades on to go out there. It's a different era of wrestling.”

Rhodes didn’t directly attack McAfee, but the message was clear. He believes the people around McAfee may be letting things move too fast without enough pushback, especially with WrestleMania right around the corner.

His comments also come shortly after McAfee aligned himself with Randy Orton during a recent SmackDown segment that left Rhodes laid out in the ring. Reports later suggested parts of McAfee’s promo that night may not have followed the original script, adding even more attention to how this storyline is unfolding.

With WrestleMania 42 getting closer, Rhodes’ comments add another layer to the situation, and it’s clear that McAfee’s involvement is now a major talking point both on television and off it.
