Cody Rhodes is stepping into the world of Street Fighter as Guile, but don’t expect him to trade in his wrestling boots just yet.

During an appearance on Grave Conversations with David Dastmalchian, the Undisputed WWE Champion reflected on his experience filming the upcoming movie and why, for him, nothing beats the ring.

Rhodes opened up about working with the cast and crew on Street Fighter and had nothing but love for the talent assembled around him. He recalled his first impressions of co-star David Dastmalchian and how impressed he was by the energy on set.

“When I got to meet you, I was intimidated and I was excited and I was also like, what is this guy gonna do with this thing? And I just have to say, man, it was so impressive. Seeing your ability to create in the moment — you're so talented. I cannot wait for people to see what you do. And I feel really thrilled to get to be a part of the film with you and so many others.”

Talking about the Street Fighter crew, Cody didn’t hold back:

“We had a pretty kick-ass group around us, wouldn’t you say? Didn’t we? My gosh, what a crew. It was almost comedic how the amount of talent out there… my gosh, that was awesome.”

But even with the momentum building behind his movie career, Rhodes made it clear where his heart still lies—professional wrestling.

“I love pro wrestling. I love sports entertainment. I love WWE… I always looked at pro wrestling as a higher form of storytelling than a lot of people would give it credit. And when it’s at its best, it’s some of the greatest storytelling out there. It’s nuanced. It’s unique… it makes you leave not having just bought a ticket — you’ve bought hope, you’ve bought fear, you’ve bought excitement.”

Cody Rhodes may be taking on new roles in film, but he’s still writing his greatest story under the WWE spotlight. And if you ask him, no Hollywood script compares to the electricity of live wrestling.
