Cody Rhodes Comments On Criticism About AEW’s Lack Of African American Stars

AEW is for everyone, but some fans don’t feel totally represented. They have a packed roster, but the amount of African American stars is quite low.

During the AEW: Dynamite conference call, Cody Rhodes commented on criticism that they don’t have as many African American stars.

“We wanted to put out a product that’s congruent with today’s society and is a snapshot of what America looks like. I think we’re doing a good job but that work is never finished.”

“One of the things my wife has been a marvel at with this company is seeking out diverse superstars and wrestlers for our product and I think we’ll continue to do so.”

“I think African American representation on our brand is huge and there are some absolute studs – men and women – that I would love to be a part of AEW and Dynamite… We are doing everything we can to provide the most diverse roster – and first and foremost – the best roster.”

Tony Khan stated after All Out that there are plans to push minority wrestlers into main event roles. He didn’t reveal any names, but there aren’t a lot of options.

We will have to see how All Elite Wrestling continues to evolve from this point on. They are doing their best to present a diverse roster which they have done to the best of their ability.
