Cody Rhodes isn’t keeping this one behind closed doors — he’s calling out WWE talent who clock out early and then wonder why they’re not getting the biggest opportunities.

The multiple-time WrestleMania main eventer has built a reputation as someone who treats the business seriously, following both modern expectations and old-school locker room etiquette. Now, he’s pointing to a habit he believes is hurting some wrestlers more than they realize.

Speaking on his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Rhodes revealed that he’s personally seen talent leaving shows before they’re even over — and he’s not impressed.

“Not gonna leave at the beginning of the show. The other day, I watched — they walked right by me. I’m like, where are you going? What if someone gets hurt? I’m almost not mad at you leaving early — you’re blatantly doing it.”

Rhodes didn’t stop there. He described how some talent are already packed up and ready to go while the show is still happening — something that clearly doesn’t sit right with him.

“Bags by Gorilla while the last two matches go on — that’s a classic. Oh, I get that, I’m still here, but I won’t be, right? Make room in the locker room. Just right in front of me?”

For Rhodes, this isn’t just about respect — it directly ties into who gets opportunities on the biggest stage of them all. He made it clear that this kind of behavior plays a role in why certain names keep getting picked for WrestleMania year after year: “Then you ask, ‘Why are the same guys always on WrestleMania?’ That’s part of it.”

The message is simple — being present, reliable, and committed behind the scenes matters just as much as what happens in the ring. And according to Cody, not everyone is taking that seriously. Bottom line — Rhodes is drawing a direct connection between work ethic backstage and opportunities on WWE’s biggest stage, and he’s not afraid to call it out publicly.
