CM Punk Wants More Tag Matches With AJ Lee

CM Punk has been riding high since his return to WWE, but there was one moment that clearly hit different: teaming up with his wife, AJ Lee, inside the ring. Fans had been chanting for it for years—and when it finally happened, Punk’s smile said everything.

During an interview with Complex News, Punk got real about what it meant to him to see AJ lace up the boots again. As someone who’s been through it all in the business, this moment stood out above almost everything else:

“I don’t have the words to explain exactly how enjoyable all that was for me... I’m her biggest fan. So to have a front row seat—literally—for her return, and to help kind of put it all together behind the scenes, and the anticipation, like knowing it was going to happen and just knowing how great it was going to be and what an amazing moment it was going to be... yeah. Time of my life. 100%.”

But don’t think Punk’s satisfied with a one-off. He made it clear he’s hoping this wasn’t the last time they share the ring:

“Like, I selfishly—I want to tag with her more, you know? Like, it feels like that might have been a one-off, but I don’t know. We’ll have to see.”

And when asked if there’s any woman on the roster who gives him pause when lacing up the boots, Punk didn’t hesitate, “AJ Lee.” Then, with a smirk, he doubled down, “Healthy, healthy respect and fear for AJ Lee when she’s got her Chucks on.”

CM Punk has headlined WrestleMania and graced the cover of WWE 2K26, but nothing seemed to light him up quite like sharing that in-ring moment with AJ. Whether it was a one-night-only deal or the start of something more, he’s clearly not done dreaming—and fans might not be either.
