Chicago native CM Punk has stepped up in a major way for his hometown team—this time outside the wrestling ring.
As the Chicago Cubs kicked off their MLB Wild Card series against the San Diego Padres on September 30, the Cubs unveiled a new postseason hype video—and it was narrated by none other than CM Punk himself.
Coming off a massive win at WWE Wrestlepalooza where he teamed with A.J. Lee in her first match in a decade, Punk is once again front and center—but this time, he’s delivering knockout words instead of GTS combos. In the video, Punk drops a gritty, poetic tribute to the city and the team that raised him.
“Out of the dark and into the light. Chicago doesn’t come to play, we come to fight,” Punk begins.
He continues with a rallying cry for Cubs fans and players alike:
“You see, this city, this team is way too hungry to give up this dream… We’ll take the punches and swing back harder. We’ll trade blows until there’s only one king. And at the final bell, we’ll own the ring. This postseason, we bring the fight.”
It’s the kind of passionate delivery only Punk could pull off—equal parts pro wrestling and hometown pride, blending his WWE charisma with the heartbeat of the Windy City.
The Cubs’ game against the Padres was still underway at press time, but there’s no question Punk’s words gave the team and the fanbase an extra jolt heading into the postseason. And with Punk set to return to WWE Raw on Netflix October 6, it’s clear he’s owning every stage he steps onto.
