CM Punk may have lost his shot at the Money in the Bank ladder match on WWE RAW, but that didn’t stop him from showing love to AJ Styles after their long-awaited showdown.
The June 2, 2025 episode of RAW closed with a chaotic triple threat main event between Punk, Styles, and the masked El Grande Americano—revealed in action to be Chad Gable under the disguise. The match was full of near falls, fan chants, and outside interference, but after all the dust settled, it was El Grande Americano who secured the final spot in the Men’s Money in the Bank match.
While Punk’s night ended in chaos—thanks to run-ins by Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and a save attempt by Jey Uso—he still took a moment after the show to acknowledge the moment he shared with AJ Styles. On Instagram, Punk posted a short but heartfelt message to his longtime peer.
“I’ve got a lot on my plate right now but I’ll always make room for you. Thank you for the boot print on my nose. Let’s not wait 21 years for the next time. You’re a legend.”
The comment refers to the fact that despite both being pioneers in pro wrestling for over two decades, this marked their first-ever televised singles showdown. And it delivered—fans in Tulsa chanted “This Is Awesome” and “CM Punk” as he and Styles exchanged blows in the center of the ring.
Despite the match being packed with interference and a surprising finish, the respect between Punk and Styles added an emotional punch that fans picked up on immediately. Punk’s acknowledgment just sealed it.
