CM Punk knows his worth—and he no longer feels the need to convince anyone else.
In an honest reflection during his interview with TV Insider, Punk opened up about how this current WWE run feels completely different from his first go-around.
In the past, Punk was known for battling with management behind the scenes, constantly pushing for better creative and more meaningful placement on the card. But today, at 46, he’s walking into every arena with decades of credibility and zero doubt about who he is or what he brings.
“I don’t think I’m fighting for real estate anymore, whereas early in my career I was always fighting for what I thought was the way to do things. I feel like my role is 100 percent more solidified now. It feels weird saying that I’m a living legend, but I’m not sure how else to say it. I’m 46 years old and have been doing this for a very long time. Pardon my French, I’m pretty fckin’ good at it. I know that now. It’s not me fighting and trying to prove that to people now. It’s me being more like, ‘We all get it now. We understand each other.’”*
Punk’s comments make it clear—he’s no longer trying to claw his way into relevance. He’s already earned his spot, and the people around him finally recognize that too. With his legacy secure and his confidence intact, this run is all about performing at the highest level, not politicking behind the curtain.
