CM Punk may be no stranger to pain inside the wrestling ring, but his latest horror movie role put him through a whole different kind of torture—this time involving gallons of fake blood, a chest rig, and one unforgettable night on set.

During an interview promoting Night Patrol with Josh Wilding, Punk described what it was like filming a violent vampire attack scene alongside Justin Long. The moment, which sees Punk’s character getting viciously chewed on, ended up being one of the most physically grueling things he’s ever done—on or off screen. He didn’t hold back when explaining just how intense the shoot got:

“There’s a scene in the movie—and again maybe you want to throw a spoiler tag on here—but when I get chewed on by Justin Long, I straight got waterboarded. We had a tube that was running up through my chest plate and I was laying on my back. So when they hit that, I mean, it was straight in my mouth, straight up my nose, and I have to keep my eyes open ’cause that’s the scene.”

Rather than cut and reset, Punk powered through for the sake of the shot—only to collapse immediately after.

“I think any normal person would have just rolled over and gagged. And no, I was like, ‘We’re shooting it. We got one chance at this. We got to get it.’ And then I spent 15 minutes on my hands and knees, you know, throwing up after that.”

Punk also recalled how his childhood fascination with making fake blood at home quickly turned into something far less enjoyable once he was drenched in the stuff for hours.

“Fake blood though—very sticky. I used to be the kid who would make fake blood in a bucket in my house with the K.O. syrup and the red food coloring. But when you’re covered in it and you’re sitting in it for 16 hours… not fun.”

Between brutal matches and brutal movies, CM Punk is proving that no matter the medium, he’s still willing to suffer for the story.

Would you be able to handle a scene like that? Or do you think Punk’s wrestling background gives him an edge? Drop your thoughts below.
