CM Punk has revealed where his savage freestyle rap on John Cena ranks among their many memorable moments over the years.
While speaking during the San Diego Comic Con, CM Punk was asked where his recent moment rapping to John Cena ranks among all the iconic moments in their long-running rivalry.
Punk responded by saying he’s had a long career full of memorable moments, and this was another one to add to the list. Given their storied past, being part of Cena’s final run meant a lot to him, especially since Cena only has a limited number of appearances left.
Punk talked about how special it felt to be involved in something fun during Cena’s farewell tour. Punk admitted he’s become more sentimental with time and feels a lot of gratitude for still being able to create standout moments. This one, like many others, stood out as unexpected and enjoyable. This moment was incredible not just for the fans, but for him as well.
“You know, I’ve been fortunate to have a pretty long career filled with a lot of great moments—and I think that’s just another one, you know? Like, storied history with Cena, and for it to be wrapping up for him… I mean, he’s only got like what, 14, 15 dates left?
Just to be able to be in his orbit during his retirement and get to do fun stuff like that—it meant a lot to me. I’m turning very, very soft in my old age, so I am always just overflowing with gratitude. And that moment was absolutely no different. I don’t think anybody expected that. It was a little bit different. It was fun. And obviously, I think we’re in the business of creating moments. So again, super grateful I still can do that and contribute at this level.”
CM Punk has already confirmed that he and John Cena will not be feuding anymore since their Night of Champions bout was their last-ever match. Regardless, Cena and Punk made sure to give fans more memories this year and that’s all that matters to them.
