CM Punk might be the World Heavyweight Champion, but even he couldn’t predict getting literally knocked out of his own boot by Bron Breakker.
During RAW event in Brooklyn, Punk defended his title against the hard-hitting Bron Breakker — but the aftermath had fans talking more about his gear than the match. A viral clip showed Punk leaving the ring with one boot flopping behind him. Punk finally explaining what actually went down during an appearance on NotSam Podcast— and he thought it was a lot worse in the moment.
“I had a split second where, like, I felt something odd going on, and I looked down and I just saw my foot twisted in the wrong way. And I was like, I’ve broken my ankle.”
But thankfully, the situation wasn’t as dire as it seemed. It turns out the boot was still fully laced — Breakker just knocked it clean off.
“Then I was like, oh, no, wait. There’s my foot. Okay, what happened? I don’t know how it happened. I don’t know when it happened.”
“My boot just came off. Still tied. The laces were still tight, but it was just off. That son of a bitch hit so hard, knocked me right out of my boot.”
Punk revealed that the kick pad strap was the only thing holding the boot to him by the end of the match.
“The kick pad has a little loop on the bottom of it that loops around and holds to the front of my shoe… and that’s what it was hanging on.”
This wasn’t just a wild gear malfunction — it was one of those unpredictable moments that only happen in pro wrestling. Getting knocked clean out of your boot and still finishing the match? That’s peak CM Punk. No drama, no panic — just lace it up and keep going.
