CM Punk has never been shy about speaking his mind—but don’t expect to read all about it in a tell-all memoir anytime soon.
During an appearance on Mostly Sports, the former WWE Champion was asked whether he had any interest in writing a book about his life and career. Punk didn’t hesitate to shoot the idea down and explained that it’s simply not something he’s willing to take on.
“No. I feel like too many people would be unnecessarily upset about it. It’s a big undertaking. I see my wife painstakingly write her book and it doesn’t look enjoyable. She worked super hard on that, and it’s like I would need to focus 100% of my time on that.”
He added that fans and publishers would likely expect him to spill everything—and that alone brings legal risks he’d rather not deal with.
“There would be an expectation I’d tell all as well. Yeah, and then people would be like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna sue you.’ Ugh. I mean, there’s stuff people don’t know, but you know, I don’t know if everybody needs to know all the stuff.”
Punk’s wife, AJ Lee, released her own memoir Crazy Is My Superpower in 2017 to widespread acclaim—but Punk made it clear the writing process didn’t exactly inspire him to follow suit. From stress to time commitment to potential backlash, he’s not interested in putting pen to paper.
While fans have long begged for a deep dive into Punk’s storied career—from indie darling to WWE superstar to his dramatic exits and returns—he’s not budging.
So unless something drastically changes, the story of CM Punk will continue to be told in the ring, on interviews, and in moments—not in chapters.
Would you want to read a CM Punk book if he ever changed his mind? Or do you think he’s right to keep some things to himself? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know.
