John Cena may have wrestled his final match at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but CM Punk made one thing clear during the post-show: he’s not going anywhere.
While speaking on the panel following Cena’s retirement match against GUNTHER, Big E brought up the topic of career endings and asked Punk if he envisioned a similar sendoff someday. Punk didn’t dodge the question—but he didn’t sugarcoat his answer either.
“When I make allusions to the end of whatever my career is going to look like, it’s not because I feel like I’m there.”
He admitted that he’s more than aware of the years behind him—but made it clear that he’s still in it for the long haul.
“It’s because I look back at the entirety of my career, and there is a lot more road behind me than there is in front of me.”
Then the WWE World Heavyweight Champion reminded everyone why he’s still at the top of the card.
“Trust me, I am the champion for a reason, and I’m here to stay, and nobody’s going to change that.”
And for anyone hoping he’d be the next to go? Punk made it clear he’s not retiring anytime soon and took shots at anyone who’d be upset by that.
“I’m not going anywhere anytime soon. Sorry if that disappoints… actually, I’m not sorry. To hell with you. If that upsets you, I’m glad.”
Cena’s emotional sendoff closed a 23-year WWE career in front of a sold-out Capital One Arena crowd in Washington, D.C. But in Punk’s eyes, the time for farewells hasn’t arrived—and he’s not interested in making fans comfortable about that either.
Punk’s message was defiant, unapologetic, and vintage CM Punk—making it clear that while one icon exits, another has no plans of stepping aside.
What’s your take on CM Punk’s comments? Should he be thinking about his own sendoff—or is this the fire fans want to see? Let us know in the comments.
