The WrestleMania 42 main event is locked in: CM Punk will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Royal Rumble winner Roman Reigns. And while Reigns made it clear on WWE Raw that he chose Punk out of pure hatred, Punk isn’t taking the bait.
During an appearance on Up & Adams with Kay Adams, Punk was asked directly if he felt the same way about Reigns.
“I don’t hate him at all,” Punk replied. “I’m the guy who gets under people’s skin. I can draw that out of him. I really make people step up and become the best version of themselves because they want to shut me up. I love that. If I can get him emotional, if you know you’re in their head, you can beat them.”
The mind games are officially in play. Reigns may be fighting with emotion, but Punk is already framing the match as a psychological chess game—a battle he believes he’s already winning.
This update follows Punk’s fiery appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, where he claimed credit for helping Reigns deliver what many fans are calling the best promo of his career.
As WrestleMania 42 draws closer, CM Punk isn’t just promoting a title match—he’s getting inside his opponent’s head, one calculated comment at a time.
Do you think Punk’s strategy will give him the edge at WrestleMania? Or is Roman Reigns more dangerous when he’s emotional? Sound off in the comments.
