Jey Uso pulled off one of the biggest surprises in Royal Rumble history, winning the 2025 Men’s Rumble by eliminating John Cena in the final moments. While some fans were caught off guard, CM Punk had nothing but praise for Jey’s victory.
Speaking with Daniel Cormier and Chael Sonnen on Good Guy/Bad Guy, Punk defended WWE’s decision to have Jey win, especially considering Cena’s presence in the match.
“I think Jey winning is fantastic. When you have somebody in there like John Cena that everyone is going to immediately assume, ‘LOL Cena is going to win.’ Earlier in the night, Charlotte wins the women’s Royal Rumble. When there are 30 people in the Rumble, male or female, that is 30 fanbases, at least 29 fanbases, that are going to converge and hate whoever wins the Rumble,” Punk explained.
Punk had an eventful Rumble match himself, eliminating both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins before being taken out by Logan Paul. Now, his focus shifts to WWE Elimination Chamber, where he’ll battle for a chance at a world title match at WrestleMania 41.
Jey Uso’s Royal Rumble win might not have been what everyone expected, but with CM Punk throwing his support behind it, the conversation isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Whether fans love it or hate it, Jey is now on the road to WrestleMania, and all eyes are on what comes next.
