The WWE Wrestlepalooza Premium Live Event will be taking place on September 20th and CM Punk will be part of a show in a big match. While he’s obviously promoting the event, Punk has admitted the name is actually ridiculous.
While speaking on Pardon My Take, CM Punk revealed his thoughts on the upcoming WWE Premium Live Event, Wrestlepalooza, and admitted he finds the name ridiculous.
The Second City Saint explained that while promoting the event and reminding fans to watch WWE PLEs on ESPN, he had been avoiding saying the name altogether until now. Punk joked that the title is self-explanatory, noting it’s a simple play on “Lollapalooza” with “wrestle” added, making it clear what fans can expect from the show.
“We’re doing media. We’re trying to get everybody aware that you gotta get ESPN to see all our PLEs, and I’ve been doing my best to not say the word Wrestlepalooza the entire time. That might actually be the first time I’ve said it. It’s a ridiculous name. Well, La Palooza, right? And you add wrestle to it and you kind of understand what you’re getting. You know, like it’s pretty self-explanatory.”
CM Punk is set to team up with AJ Lee and square off against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch in a mixed tag team match at the WWE Wrestlepalooza Premium Live Event. While Punk finds the name ridiculous, it’s clear he’s more than happy to be part of the show and so it remains to be seen if he and AJ Lee will pick up the win at the event.
Do you agree with CM Punk that Wrestlepalooza is a “ridiculous” name, or do you think it perfectly captures the fun, over-the-top spirit of WWE? Sound off in the comments.
