CJ Perry, formerly known as Lana in WWE, isn’t holding back when it comes to a WWE CJ Perry, formerly known as Lana in WWE, is revisiting a WWE 2K19 controversy that first made headlines in 2018—when she publicly blasted the game’s depiction of her character for being completely off the mark.

Back in September 2018, WWE Games revealed Lana as a playable character in WWE 2K19 for the first time. But when Perry saw the in-game model—complete with short blonde hair and black bejeweled ring gear—she immediately took to Twitter to call it out. Her blunt reaction went viral:

“Who is this ?????? Never have I worn that gear or wrestled with short hair so I am very confused who this women is.”

Fast forward to 2026, Perry addressed the issue again during her Ring the Belle interview, explaining why she was so upset at the time. She made it clear that the outfit and hairstyle featured in the game were never worn on television—only during a private backstage photoshoot.

“I never wore that gear out to wrestle in the ring on television. I just did it backstage. The hair was like that for the shoot… but I never wore it out to the ring on television. And so I was a little shook.”

She felt the use of that gear and hairstyle misrepresented her on a large scale, especially considering the impact of being immortalized in a video game. Her main frustration stemmed from not being consulted or given a chance to approve it beforehand.

“If I wanted you guys to use this for the video game or action figures or anything, I would have worn it out to the ring.”

While CJ admitted she could’ve handled the situation with more restraint, she defended her reaction by saying she was still in character at the time—and protecting the brand she worked so hard to build.
