CJ Perry (aka Lana) just revealed one of the wildest backstage stories from her time in WWE — and it involves Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis getting way too close for comfort.

During her appearance on Ring the Bell, Perry talked about the preparation for her infamous on-screen kiss with Dolph Ziggler. While the segment was already controversial for WWE TV, what happened before the cameras rolled may have been even more surreal. As she tells it, Vince McMahon didn’t just give direction—he acted the whole scene out in front of her, Rusev, and Johnny Ace.

“We had to practice sitting in front of him—Johnny Ace and Rusev. And yes, we had to practice kissing.”

The room wasn’t big, and neither were the boundaries. According to Perry, the WWE boss and Laurinaitis got very close to demonstrate the moment. The visual was too much for her to handle.

“It was a room as big as this, maybe half the size. And Johnny Ace and Vince are showing us how to do it. You know, they don’t go all the way to kissing, but they go really close—like, all the way.”

“We’re giggling… I was giggling so hard at Vince and Johnny Ace doing this so close. I thought it was so hysterical.”

But Vince wasn’t breaking character. That moment clicked for her, shifting her mindset completely. She mentioned that she and Rusev saw the performance as part of their job.

“He’s like, ‘CJ, we’re all professionals here.’ That’s when I knew—grow up, CJ. Even if you’re having a hard time with Rusev in the corner, don’t sell it. You’re a professional.”

“I’m a professional dancer, actress. Rusev is a professional. He takes acting classes, been in movies… so we knew that was the job.”

While many fans remember the storyline for the crowd reactions and social media chaos it caused, what went down before the segment aired might be even more unforgettable. Lana’s story gives a bizarre, theatrical glimpse into WWE’s old backstage culture — where yes, the boss might just walk you through a kiss scene himself if he thinks it’ll help the TV moment land.
