CJ Perry just dropped a wild confession—and it involves getting arrested, going to jail for three days, and coming out of it with a whole new perspective.

Speaking on the January 29, 2026 episode of Inside the Ring, Perry was asked what she had been arrested for. What followed was an eye-opening confession about a mistake that became a turning point in her life: “Oh my God, this is a crazy story. I’ve actually never said this publicly. For sure.”

She explained that the incident happened when she was 25, living in Atlanta, and on her way to re-audition for school at Florida State. It was her birthday—and she admitted she was being reckless. When police pulled her over and said they smelled weed, Perry didn’t try to lie.

“I was speeding. I was going 91 in a 75 zone—talk about stupid. My tags were expired. One of my lights was out. And on top of that, in the state of Georgia, I was smoking weed, which is illegal—while driving. I know. I was not well. They were like, ‘It smells like weed,’ and I said, ‘I’m smoking weed, I’m so sorry.’ I fully ratted myself out.”

She was immediately taken into custody—and to make matters worse, she was far from home. But what truly shaped her wasn’t just the arrest—it was what her parents did next. Instead of rushing to bail her out, they let her sit there for three days.

“I went to jail. I was nine hours away from Nashville at that point, stuck in Georgia. My dad and my mom let me sit there for three days. They were just like, ‘CJ, you know the law.’”

According to Perry, that tough love changed her life forever. Being locked up gave her perspective. She reflected on how even simple things like stepping outside became powerful in that moment.

“There were women in that jail who had been there for over a year. You only get to go outside for one hour a week. And it made me think, why do I complain about anything? Why do I complain about boys, about stupid stuff? Just having your freedom and being able to look at the blue sky every day—that’s everything.”

Perry said if her parents had bailed her out immediately, the lesson wouldn’t have hit the same. And that jail experience, painful as it was, came full circle three years later—on the same date. For Perry, that felt like more than a coincidence, as she signed with WWE.

“They told me, ‘We love you, but we think you need to think about your actions.’ I came out of that experience incredibly grateful. It really impacted my life. And three years later, on my birthday, I got my job in WWE. I truly felt like that was a gift from the universe saying, ‘Do the right thing. Be a good person. Follow the law. Work hard—and you’ll get what you’re meant to have.’”

From getting arrested on her birthday to landing a WWE contract exactly three years later, CJ Perry turned one of her lowest moments into something transformative—and isn’t afraid to own it now.
