Christian Cage is calling it like he sees it—and according to him, his current run in AEW isn’t just good, it’s the best work of his career. After years in WWE and a celebrated stint in TNA, the veteran is finally putting a stamp on his legacy in All Elite Wrestling, and he’s not holding back about how proud he is of this chapter.

Reflecting on his return to the ring in 2021 after a seven-year retirement via Yahoo Sports, Cage said he didn’t come back for nostalgia. He came back to dominate. From the moment he debuted at AEW Revolution, he had a point to prove—not just to fans or critics, but to himself. Cage made it clear that he didn’t return for a “greatest hits tour.” He came back to be better than ever. He said this run is hands down the best of his entire career, even admitting that he never expected it to peak this late in life—but somehow, it has.

The launchpad for this new persona came through a now-infamous promo aimed at Jack Perry. At the time, Cage delivered a personal shot that ended up going viral. He admitted he didn’t predict the explosion it would cause online, but once it hit, he knew he had to double down. That moment sparked his evolution into the “Patriarchy” character that fans either love—or love to hate.

While he’s set to team up with longtime friend Adam Copeland at AEW All Out in their hometown of Toronto for a tag match against FTR, Cage isn’t interested in long-term partnerships. According to him, teaming with Copeland is a temporary truce to solve mutual problems, but nothing beyond that is guaranteed. His real focus is singular: the AEW World Championship.

Despite already holding the TNT Title twice and a Trios Title run, plus a reign with the TNA World Championship in the past, Cage is not done stacking his legacy. AEW’s top prize is still on his radar, and he’s not planning to leave the company until his name is in the world title record books.
