The July 30 episode of AEW Dynamite went down at the Byline Bank Aragon Ballroom in Chicago, Illinois. This included a big return for Christian Cage.
This week on Dynamite, after MJF was ejected from the Hurt Syndicate, Christian Cage made his comeback. That was a long time coming, as the hated heel made his return to AEW.
Christian Cage spoke about how the Patriarchy was dismantled at All In, and how Adam Copeland returned. This led Cage to re-introduce himself as “an asshole.” Fans were all behind this proclamation as they cheered the heel on and chanted “asshole” in his general direction.
He spoke about how he walked into Revolution with the intention of winning the title, but that wasn’t in the cards for him. He also didn’t have great things to say about Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian, whom he used to lead as part of his stable.
Then he turned his attention to Adam Copeland, because he heard what the Rated R Superstar said in his promo. Cope said that Christian was going to make him a cripple with a smile on his face, even take care of his wife, Beth Phoenix. Then Cage wondered if the things he said was really that bad. He said that Cope understands the “game within the game.” He then suggested that Cope get off of his high horse, then his head would rest easily on his piles of money.
Cage addressed how Cope told him to “find himself.” He didn’t have very good things to say about that. This was one insult and comment coated in double-meaning after another, some of those illusions were a bit more NSFW.
At that point, Christian Cage adressed his former stable once again. He said that Nick Wayne already has a dead father, and now he has another father who’s dead to him. Christian Cage then said that he disowned them as well. As Christian left, Mama Wayne confronted him and then Nick Wayne jumped out of nowhere with his title belt and laid him out. Then they set Cage up with a double chair shot to the head, which was a brutal spot.
