Chris Jericho may be finished with his latest Fozzy tour, but fans hoping to see him back on AEW television soon are going to have to keep waiting. According to Dave Meltzer on the June 2, 2025 episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, there are currently no plans in motion for Jericho’s return to AEW programming.
Jericho recently made a public appearance at CrusherFest in Milwaukee, an annual celebration honoring the legendary AWA icon, The Crusher. While the event featured Jericho paying tribute to his childhood hero, Meltzer noted that his AEW status remains inactive.
“Nothing really new with Jericho, other than he played at Crusher Fest on Saturday [May 31, 2025],” Meltzer said.
He clarified that while Jericho is technically free to appear on AEW anytime—especially on Wednesdays—there’s been no movement from either side.
“No, his Fozzy tour is over, so right now, he’s done some TV work while he’s been gone—a couple of TV shows that he filmed. But as far as coming back to AEW, there’s nothing on the table right now. As far as, is he ready and available? I mean, you know, technically, he’s always been available, because even when he tours, Wednesday is open. But you know, I think that he felt that it was time for a break, and so that’s the deal with them.”
Jericho’s appearance at CrusherFest also brought a nostalgic story from Meltzer, who recalled how deeply The Crusher impacted Jericho growing up in Winnipeg.
“When Jericho was very young, Crusher was one of his favorites because Jericho grew up in Winnipeg — that was an AWA city. The Crusher was the AWA’s top babyface until Hogan came in ’81. Jericho said when he was eight years old, he saw The Crusher on TV say, ‘Join me downtown and we’ll all go drink beers together.’ And Jericho just wanted his mom to let him go and drink beers with The Crusher — but she wouldn’t let him go.”
While Jericho might be enjoying some downtime, fans are still wondering when—or if—he’ll step back into an AEW ring this summer. With no storyline in motion and AEW pushing forward without him for now, the break appears to be mutual.
