Chris Jericho just celebrated 35 years in pro wrestling—and made it crystal clear he’s far from done.

On October 2, Jericho reflected on his first-ever match in a heartfelt post on social media. He debuted on that exact date back in 1990 against Lance Storm in front of a small crowd in Ponoka, Alberta. Despite the modest start, Jericho used the moment to remind the world that his career isn’t winding down—it’s still going strong.

“Crazy to think it’s been 35 years to the day of my VERY FIRST MATCH! On Oct 2, 1990 I faced @stormwrestlingacademy in Ponoka, Alberta at the #PonokaMooseHall, in front of about 85 people. The match ended in a ten minute draw and I remember every little thing as if it happened only yesterday! (I got paid 30 dollars….a 20 & a 10!). I have had a wonderful, amazing, one in a million career since then…. and I wanna thank all of YOU from around the entire world for joining me for certain parts …or even all of it! And the good news is…. IT AIN’T OVER YET!”

Jericho hasn’t appeared on AEW television since April, taking a break after a rocky chapter in his most recent run. But speculation has been swirling that he could be gearing up for one final stint in WWE—especially with his AEW contract expiring at the end of 2025. That said, AEW President Tony Khan isn’t giving up on the Demo God just yet.

Speaking on The Torg and Elliott Show, Khan praised Jericho’s legacy in AEW and openly teased a return.

“Chris Jericho’s been here since the very beginning. And I have so much great respect for Chris Jericho. I do really have to say I would love to have Chris Jericho in AEW any time. Yeah, we absolutely want Chris Jericho back in AEW, and hopefully soon. He’s been great with us and he’s been with us since the very first event. The very first AEW World Champion. And Chris is a huge part of the history of AEW and still in great shape, still a great wrestler.”

When asked directly if fans will see Jericho back in an AEW ring, Khan gave the classic promoter’s answer—without giving anything away.

“Well, I think you got to stay tuned to the show. That’s one of the reasons you watch the wrestling show is to see the returns, and we just talked at the beginning of the call about, you know, keeping secrets and stuff like that, so I think stay tuned.”

Jericho also addressed the growing WWE rumors during a recent interview with the Daily Mail, admitting he’s open to the idea—but hasn’t made any decisions.

“So I’m not going anywhere for a while, I’m still with AEW for right now. Would I go back to WWE? I wouldn’t be opposed to it. We just have to see what happens. But the best thing that can happen is that you have two great teams that you can play for, and that just makes everything bigger and more exciting.”

So while Jericho’s future remains up in the air, he’s made one thing perfectly clear—he’s not finished. Whether it’s a surprise return in AEW, a shocking move to WWE, or something entirely different, fans can expect at least one more big chapter from one of wrestling’s all-time greats.
