Chris Jericho isn’t slowing down—and he’s not interested in coasting on past glory, either.
In a new interview with Soundsphere Magazine, the former AEW World Champion and Fozzy frontman opened up about the importance of creative reinvention, both in wrestling and music. For Jericho, evolving as an artist isn’t just optional—it’s essential.
“Reinvention is important at any stage of your career, because you want to keep people excited and motivated about what you’re doing,” Jericho said. “The [Rolling] Stones’ last record, ‘Hackney Diamonds,’ was great. Why wouldn’t The Stones release a new album? Because they’re artists, and that’s what artists do.”
He mentioned the need to keep pushing forward—even if you have history on your side.
“Keeping things fresh and exciting is something I believe in wholeheartedly. There’s nothing wrong with having tinges, but you still want to create new things as well, so you’re not just a nostalgia act.”
Jericho also spoke about the crossover between pro wrestling and performing on stage, noting that both careers rely heavily on audience control and connection.
“You do learn how to control an audience. It’s very important. You want people to react and have a great time. You want people to cheer when you want them to, and you want them to boo when you want them to.”
Whether he’s in the ring or on stage with Fozzy, Jericho sees himself as an entertainer who thrives off live energy:
“There are a lot of prompts that I will use on-stage and in the ring. You don’t want dead air. You’ve got to be a party host! It’s so important for you to have that interaction, and connection with an audience. If you can do that, you will always have a job!”
Jericho continues to reinvent himself across multiple platforms, proving once again why he’s remained relevant for over three decades.
