Chelsea Green’s nose isn’t the only thing that sidelined her recently — turns out there was more going on behind the scenes than fans realized.
According to Fightful Select, Green missed the June 13 episode of WWE SmackDown due to a sinus infection that got so bad it caused hearing loss and sent her to the emergency room. WWE covered for her absence with an on-screen angle claiming she wasn’t at the venue for the show, but the real story was far more serious.
Green had already been working through a broken nose that required her to wear a rhinestone-studded protective mask on TV. Despite the injury, she was open to competing and was even scheduled for a Queen of the Ring match that night in Lexington. But when the sinus infection hit, she didn’t travel to the show at all.
“Green actually didn’t travel to the show, as she had been dealing with a sinus infection that caused her to experience hearing loss and be sent to the emergency room,” Fightful Select reported.
Fortunately, the health scare didn’t keep her down for long. Green made a quick recovery and appeared on the following week’s episode of SmackDown. WWE producers were reportedly impressed by how fast she bounced back.
It’s also been made clear the sinus infection was “unrelated to the broken nose” she sustained after taking a stiff 619 from Zelina Vega at a recent live event.
Green, never one to back down from a spotlight, has been making the most of her injury — turning her protective face mask into a full-blown fashion statement and keeping herself at the center of WWE drama.
