Chelsea Green isn’t off the WrestleMania 42 radar yet — but her road back just got a lot more complicated.

After weeks of insisting she wouldn’t miss WrestleMania 42, a new update is pumping the brakes on that confidence. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select on March 26, 2026, there’s growing optimism inside WWE about her recovery — but no guarantee she’ll be cleared in time.

There is internal optimism that Chelsea Green is progressing well from her ankle injury, though it remains unclear whether she will be cleared in time for WrestleMania 42. That’s the key shift. Up until now, Green has been publicly pushing the idea that missing WrestleMania simply isn’t happening.

Speaking on the Beyond the Belt podcast earlier this month, she gave a confident update on her condition while still acknowledging the injury hasn’t fully healed. She didn’t stop there — making it clear her mindset hasn’t changed at all when it comes to WWE’s biggest event of the year.

“Everything is great! My ankle is very sore, but we’re making huge progress, which I think is great and necessary, especially entering WrestleMania season. I cannot be missing WrestleMania! So that’s amazing.”

Green originally revealed that she chipped the side of her ankle back in early February, at one point even wearing a walking boot during recovery. She later admitted she had already started moving around without it — even though she technically wasn’t supposed to yet — showing just how aggressive she’s been about getting back. Now, the latest report adds a reality check to that determination.

While there’s belief internally that she could return sooner rather than later, WWE still hasn’t locked in a timeline for her in-ring clearance — leaving her WrestleMania status hanging. At the same time, Green has made one thing very clear behind the scenes — she doesn’t want to disappear.

Chelsea Green has been adamant about staying on-screen during her recovery, with WWE continuing to feature her on programming rather than writing her off. That includes ongoing appearances on SmackDown and even involvement tied to AAA, regardless of whether she’s physically cleared to compete.

So while progress is real, the situation now comes down to timing versus risk. Green is pushing to be ready. WWE is keeping her visible. But until medical clearance comes through, nothing is guaranteed. With WrestleMania 42 less than a month away, her recovery timeline is suddenly one of the biggest question marks heading into the show.

Do you think Chelsea Green should push to make WrestleMania 42 despite the injury, or should WWE hold her back until she’s fully healed? Drop your thoughts and feedback below.
