Chelsea Green Reveals WWE Won’t Bring Back Divas Title Despite Her Campaign

Chelsea Green’s long-running campaign to bring the Divas era back to WWE just hit a dead end. Despite pushing hard for a custom Divas Title-inspired version of the Women’s United States Championship, Green now confirms that WWE turned her pitch down flat.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet, Green revealed she tried to fully embrace the controversial aesthetic — pink butterflies and all — but the company wasn’t on board. She tried very hard to bring back the Divas Championship, including doing a Divas open challenge, but it just wasn’t accepted.

“A Divas United States custom championship? I asked. It’s not happening. I really did try. I tried so hard. I wanted to do a Divas open challenge. I wanted to do the whole shebang.”

The rejection doesn’t mean Green is stepping away from the idea altogether, but she understood why the company might be hesitant — especially given the effort WWE’s women put in over the years to evolve past that era.

“I understand that the women before me fought so hard to end that stigma,” Green explained. “It’s fun for me because I wasn’t a Diva, but those women worked so hard to move past that era. I don’t know if bringing it back right now would do them justice. Maybe in 10 years, maybe the girls from NXT can come up and do it in the future.”

Green has never shied away from her love for the Divas era. She’s been advocating for the return of the Divas Championship for years and even welcomed the backlash that came with it. During an interview with Ring The Belle, she explained why controversy only fuels her brand.

“It’s a controversial take and everybody’s talking. I think that’s what people don’t understand is, when you tweet about me, you’re doing me a favor. You are making me go viral. So that’s what’s happening.”

Even if the Divas title isn’t coming back anytime soon, Chelsea Green has made it clear she’ll keep pushing boundaries — whether fans love it or hate it.
