Just hours before tonight’s Friday Night SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis confirmed a brand-new championship match that’s now set to go down live from Fort Worth, Texas.
In a video shared by WWE on social media, Aldis revealed that Chelsea Green will defend her WWE Women’s United States Championship against Zelina Vega on tonight’s episode. The announcement was made during a phone call with Green, who wasn’t exactly thrilled to hear the news.
This match is a late addition to an already packed post-WrestleMania 41 episode, which also features a massive TLC match for the WWE Tag Team Titles and the long-awaited mystery wrestler reveal linked to weeks of cryptic vignettes.
Aldis also noted that Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena is confirmed to be in the building tonight, and that Randy Orton will likely have something to say following his RKO on Cena during RAW.
