Chelsea Green Calls Out Heels Who Go Into Business for Themselves

Chelsea Green is the Women’s United States Champion, and she is the first in WWE to hold that honor. She is on top of her game right now, but she’s also not above making herself the butt of the joke. There is a good reason for that.

While speaking to Busted Open Radio before the 2025 Royal Rumble, Chelsea Green was asked about her character in pro wrestling. She explained that she has made fun of herself throughout her career.

“It isn’t about stealing the show, but it is about ‘how can I make this my moment?’ In this group of women, how can I make this about me without being selfish? Without being selfish.”

Then Bubba Ray Dudley brought up how pro wrestlers are usually very selfish. That caused Green to go into more detail about how she sees things.

“I didn’t grow up watching wrestling, so when I came into the business I was like, ‘damn everyone’s so narcissistic, and they only think about themselves in that moment. But, I can say stuff that’s entertaining that’s comedic that people will remember, but I don’t need to bury you doing it.”

“That’s what I don’t understand when heels go out there and they go into business for themselves when they know damn well that babyface isn’t going to come back quick enough or they’ll get flustered or not have a response. Or making fun of their appearance and they can’t change that — my big ass forehead — we can’t change that.”

“I would rather make fun of myself — all the things that people have said about myself, whatever — you can make fun of me, but I know. I’ve already made myself the butt of the joke.”

Chelsea Green went on to say that she never understood why heels will go out and say something off the script to bury a babyface, when they know that they will win the interaction. She is more than ready to make fun of herself, and make herself “the butt of the joke,” so that’s not going to change.

The WWE Women’s United States Champion is ready to turn the joke on herself, because she made herself the joke a long time ago. Through it all, she’s also seen a ton of success.

We will have to see how much longer Chelsea Green holds onto the WWE Women’s United States Championship, but she could have a big match at WrestleMania 41 in her future if she holds onto that belt for a couple more months.
