Charlotte Flair has been chasing greatness in WWE for over a decade, but for anyone thinking her success is all about carrying on Ric Flair’s legacy—she’s setting the record straight.
During her recent interview with WrestleZone, Charlotte opened up about what she wishes people would focus on more when they talk about her career—and it has nothing to do with being her father’s daughter.
When asked how she hopes fans remember her beyond championships and title reigns, Charlotte made it clear her real motivation for stepping into the ring had little to do with Ric Flair and everything to do with her late brother, Reid.
“Oh, I know what I thought about. I didn’t get into wrestling from my dad. It was for my little brother. And I think people kind of forget that. Like, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for him.”
Charlotte admitted that carrying the Flair name is both an honor and a heavy responsibility. She’s constantly faced with comparisons and assumptions about her success being handed to her—but behind the spotlight is a far more personal story.
“And I feel like, you know, the pressures of being my dad’s daughter and not his son — people don’t really realize — it’s a mixed blessing with a massive chip on my shoulder, but also having that opportunity to be a Flair. It’s just like… so many different facets.”
Charlotte’s journey in wrestling isn’t about chasing Ric Flair’s legacy—it’s about carving out her own, fueled by family, loss, and the pressure that comes with one of the most famous names in the business.
