Charlotte Flair’s always been subjected to criticism, especially when it came to her constant title wins and character. She’s finally had enough as Flair has now called out fans who criticized her character for being one-dimensional.
While speaking on Busted Open Radio, Charlotte Flair was asked why fans constantly criticized her character for being one-dimensional. Flair said it’s because she always felt pressure to figure out how to grow. She knew how to help her tag partners or other wrestlers look better but wasn’t sure how to improve herself.
The Queen explained that when people say she’s always the same, it’s because she’s always being put in the same kind of role. She’s often The Queen because those matches are seen as big deals since Charlotte took the title so seriously. But in those matches, Charlotte said she can’t act silly or try something new; she had to treat the match seriously.
“It’s constant pressure—not knowing how to elevate myself. I know how to elevate my partner or other talent, but how do I elevate me?
When I’m told I’m always the same character, but I keep getting put in the same role, how am I supposed to evolve? Why do I always face Charlotte Flair? Because it’s a big deal. Because she treats the title seriously. So how can I be anything different in that position?”
Flair said she can’t go into a title match messing around or being something she’s not. She can’t act goofy or playful when the match is about the most important title in the division. So she had no choice but to stay serious.
Charlotte admitted she’s always been the “constant” in WWE, but that also made it hard for her character to grow. Being reliable helped, but it also kept her stuck in the same spot.
“I can’t go into a title match goofing off. I can’t be something I’m not. I can’t come out with pom-poms if I’m chasing the most important prize in our division—the world title. I didn’t have a choice.
Yes, I’ve been the constant. But that constancy—while valuable—also held me back. Not personally, but for my character. It became a limitation.”
Charlotte Flair is now a completely different character as she is teaming up with Alexa Bliss and fans are finally connecting with her. Therefore, we’ll have to see how their partnership continues to develop, as it’s clear that Flair and Bliss’ partnership is working wonders.
