Charlotte Flair is back in WWE and chasing championship gold again—but her personal life has quietly shifted in a big way. Following months of speculation, Flair’s divorce from Andrade El Idolo was finalized in October 2024. And now, Andrade is speaking up—with zero blame placed on his ex-wife.

During an appearance on Enmascarados – El Podcast, Andrade confirmed what fans long suspected: they never tried to get back together after the split. Despite their history and mutual respect, the relationship was simply over—and he owned up to being the reason. The AEW and WWE alum took full responsibility for the end of the marriage.

“She was an incredible wife. I was the problem. I failed her as a husband, and I admit that publicly.”

Andrade also shut down long-standing internet rumors that Flair was behind his WWE exit or any of his setbacks.

“People say she got me fired from WWE, or that she was the reason for things going wrong—no. None of that. It was my fault. I made mistakes, and that led to the decision to divorce.”

Even though they stayed in touch post-breakup, Andrade made it clear it was never romantic again. He opened up about the reality of their final months as a married couple, which were more about respectful distance than reconnection.

“We were married for six years. It’s hard… sometimes we’d see each other and say hi, but it wasn’t the same. Still, I admire her. I want her to be happy. As a man, I had to recognize it was better to let go.”

When asked directly if reconciliation was ever on the table, Andrade shut it down.

“We’d talk, but not like that. We weren’t trying to get back together. We’d check in—she’d say, ‘Be careful, don’t hurt yourself out there.’ It was nice, but we never seriously tried to get back together.”

Even with the heartbreak, Andrade expressed zero bitterness—just gratitude and personal accountability.

“She was focused on rehab, I needed space, too. After the divorce, I asked WWE to let me rest. I didn’t want to be traveling every week without a storyline. I needed time—for myself, and to heal.”

He ended that part of the interview by reiterating his respect for Charlotte and appreciation for his time in WWE, even if it ended on a tough note.

Now that Andrade has laid it all out, the rumors can finally take a back seat. There’s no dramatic scandal, no buried betrayal — just a relationship that couldn’t survive the pressure, the schedule, and Andrade’s own mistakes. It’s a rare moment of honesty in a world built on illusions, and one that leaves fans with more respect for both Andrade and Charlotte Flair.

What do you think about Andrade’s comments? Should they have tried to work things out—or was the split the best move for both? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know.
