Charles Robinson was brutally tackled by John Cena during Night of Champions, which obviously shocked fans. While Robinson’s fine now, he revealed how Cena didn’t say anything to him after his actions.

While speaking on the Raw Recap show, Charles Robinson talked about that crazy moment at Night of Champions when John Cena tackled him. He said he was just up in Gorilla Position because he wanted to see the last match before he changed and helped take down the ring.

Suddenly, Seth Rollins came up to him with the Money in the Bank briefcase and told him to be ready. Robinson figured it was going to be a big cash-in moment. When Rollins gave him the signal he took off running.

Robinson said this was different from WrestleMania 24, which was just a pin cover. This was a cash-in, so he ran at only about 80% speed on purpose. He noted that if fans watch the video, they can tell he was trying not to go full speed. He admitted that if he had gone 100%, the crash would have been a lot worse.

“It was a very wild scene. I was up in Gorilla Position, I just wanted to watch the last match before I got changed and tore down the ring. All of a sudden Seth Rollins comes up and he’s like, ‘Hey, when I call you, come down.’ Had the briefcase in his hand. So I figured it was going to be a historic cash in of the briefcase. So I was standing there and he gave me the sign and I took off.

This is different than WrestleMania 24. That was a pin cover, right? This is a cash in, I’m running at 80%, I’m not giving it my all. If you look at the video, I’m trying to hold back. Thank God, because if I was at 100%, the collision would’ve been much worse.”

As Robinson sprinted down the ramp, he noticed some movement out of the corner of his eye. At first, he thought it was Stu the camera guy, but then he corrected his path, only to suddenly find himself in the air. That’s when he was told it was John Cena who had hit him.

“I’m running down the ramp and I see movement out of my eye, I thought it was Stu the camera guy. Then I divert back straight, all of a sudden bam—I’m airborne. They tell me it’s John Cena who hit me.”

When asked what was going through his mind while he was in the air, Charles Robinson admitted his first thought was that he was dead. He truly didn’t know what had happened. Even running at 80% might have saved him, because 100% could have ended much differently since he landed just inches from the steel stairs.

When Cena slammed him to the ground, Robinson went completely numb and didn’t even feel hitting the floor. After that, he thinks the referee in the match helped him up, but his legs were shaking and he was totally out of it.

What bothered Robinson the most was the aftermath. He believed he and Cena had a mutual respect, especially since he had refereed the match where Cena tied Ric Flair’s world title record against AJ Styles at the Royal Rumble. But after this incident, Robinson said Cena didn’t say a single word to him or apologized, which left him genuinely disappointed.

“I thought, I’m dead. I had no idea what happened. Like I said, I was running 80%, but 100% could’ve been different. If you look at where I landed, I was inches from the stairs. After John Cena planted me on the ground, I was numb when he hit me. I went numb—I did not even feel hitting the ground. Afterwards, I think it was the referee in the match who helped me out. My legs were shaking, I didn’t know where I was.

The really sad thing about this whole thing is, I thought John Cena and myself, we had a mutual respect for each other. Especially since I refereed when he tied Ric Flair’s title reign against AJ Styles at the Rumble. I thought we had respect. But afterwards, he said absolutely nothing. Nothing! “

We have also previously reported that the spot was met with a lot of laughter backstage at Night of Champions. Regardless, it was definitely a memorable moment that fans will continue to talk about for a long time but fans feel it’s a shame that Cena didn’t say anything to him after the spot.
