Carmelo Hayes isn’t just ready for a rematch on SmackDown — he might be bringing backup in the form of his real-life fiancée, Kelani Jordan.
On the January 2nd episode of SmackDown, Hayes made his first defense of the WWE United States Championship against Gargano — and while he walked away still champion, the tension didn’t end with the bell.
Gargano, who came to the ring with wife Candice LeRae in his corner, couldn’t get the job done despite her involvement. After the match, he took to Twitter and uploaded a photo, sending a clear message to Hayes: “Coming back for you.”
Hayes saw it — and fired back with a warning that wasn’t just about the title; it was about backup, as he was hinting at bringing Kelani Jordan to the main roster.
“This was an NXT dream match and I actually got a lil bit of respect for you. We can run it back whenever, leave your wife in the back… or I can make a call and we can even it out.”
That “call” reference sent fans straight into speculation mode — and Kelani Jordan added fuel to the fire with a not-so-subtle emoji response: “👀😏”
Now with Hayes teasing outside involvement and Jordan subtly co-signing the idea, the stage may be set for a much more personal second bout— and possibly a mixed-tag team match in the near future.
Should Carmelo Hayes bring Kelani Jordan into the mix if Candice LeRae keeps backing Johnny Gargano? Would you be down for a mixed tag match? Let us know what you think in the comments.
