Travis Scott’s brutal slap on Cody Rhodes at WWE Elimination Chamber has taken on a life of its own, transcending the world of wrestling and catching the attention of none other than NBA legend Carmelo Anthony.
The shocking heel turn of John Cena, his alliance with The Rock, and Travis Scott’s unexpected involvement were already huge talking points, but it was Scott’s now-infamous slap that has everyone buzzing. Footage showed Scott striking Rhodes near the ear with full force, leaving the Undisputed WWE Champion with a burst eardrum and a black eye.
Now, Carmelo Anthony is weighing in. Speaking on his 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Melo couldn’t believe what he saw:
“Why he slap that man like that? He was leaking. Why did he think that was cool? WWE is so slick with it. They came out and said, ‘Yeah, wrestling is real.’ That was bleeding. That man can’t hear shit.”
When co-host Kazeem Famuyide mentioned that The Rock instructed Scott to make it look good, Melo didn’t hold back:
“He told him, ‘Make it count. Slap the shit out of him.’ If I was Cody Rhodes, I would have got out of character. Jumped right up. ‘Cut.’ Travis Scott’s ass is grass. You don’t slap nobody that hard. First of all, you gotta learn how to slap somebody. You don’t slap them straight down. You gotta cuff the ear a little bit. You know he was extra excited.”
With Travis Scott now rumored to step inside a WWE ring, it’s safe to say Cody Rhodes might be looking for payback sooner rather than later.
