Teddy Long believes there may be more to Carmella’s sudden WWE exit than meets the eye. The former SmackDown Women’s Champion recently confirmed her departure from the company on social media, but she didn’t reveal why—at least not yet.

While fans have speculated about her exit, Long hinted that there could have been behind-the-scenes drama at play. Speaking on The Wrestling Time Machine, the WWE Hall of Famer praised Carmella’s in-ring work and her husband Corey Graves’ commentary skills, but suggested that something backstage might have led to her departure.

“Well I don’t really know, you know, what to say about that. I mean, as far as I know Corey Graves was doing a great job. I always liked him, you know, behind the mic. Carmella, his wife, I thought she done a great job in the ring and everything, so I really don’t know what to say. Maybe there’s some backstage heat that we don’t know about,” Long said.

Adding fuel to the speculation, Graves was recently moved from RAW and SmackDown commentary to NXT in a decision that many have called a “demotion.” With Carmella now out of WWE and Graves reassigned, fans are questioning whether the two situations are connected.
