Back in April, WWE made headlines when they announced that Cardi B would serve as the host of SummerSlam. But now, with the two-night event at MetLife Stadium just weeks away, her status feels more uncertain than ever.
As of July 15, WWE hasn’t mentioned Cardi B in any recent broadcasts hypes for SummerSlam. The silence is raising eyebrows, especially since the event is right around the corner on August 2 and 3. What makes it more confusing is that the original announcement video featuring Cardi B is still live on WWE’s website—yet the company hasn’t acknowledged her in weeks on television.
This lack of promotion is a sharp contrast to WWE’s usual playbook when it comes to celebrity involvement. The company typically goes all in when marketing crossover appearances, especially from A-listers like Cardi B.
Triple H previously spoke about her involvement during the Money in the Bank post-show press conference, teasing that she’d be unpredictable and hard to control.
“Can you see her, I don’t know if anyone can control Cardi B, let me start with that. If she wants to, I don’t think we can talk her out of it,” he said. “Cardi is going to do whatever she’s going to do and you’re just hanging onto the tiger’s tail a little bit there.”
Triple H mentioned that she was excited about the project and that WWE was looking to expand the brand beyond traditional wrestling fans.
Despite that enthusiasm, the current lack of visibility makes her SummerSlam appearance feel up in the air. WWE has not confirmed any change, but the silence is loud.
Ringside News will continue to track this situation and bring any updates if Cardi’s SummerSlam status becomes clearer.
