Bully Ray isn’t shy when it comes to voicing strong opinions—and now he’s taking aim at WWE’s all-women pay-per-view series, Evolution.

During a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, the WWE Hall of Famer said he believes the company should put the brakes on doing another Evolution event, pointing directly at what he feels is lackluster promotion and energy around the shows.

According to Bully Ray, the issue has nothing to do with the talent involved, but rather how the show is framed and presented to fans.

“We weren’t thinking Evolution because that was any disrespect to the women, to the warriors out there in the ring. It’s just that the build to Evolution didn’t feel like the build to Saturday Night’s Main Event, it didn’t feel like the build to All In, thus, we weren’t expecting that kind of show.”

He added that WWE’s female roster has already earned their place on the main stage, and separating them into standalone events might actually be a step backward.

“I don’t think we need to single the women out anymore and give them their own shows, I think the women have proven themselves that they should have their segments, their matches, their promos on main shows because they belong as much as the men do.”

The first WWE Evolution event took place in 2018 to major fanfare, with Evolution 2 airing just this past Sunday. But if you ask Bully Ray, the format no longer fits the current wrestling landscape, where the women’s division has already proven it deserves equal billing.
