AEW’s Harley Cameron is set to take time off after her No Disqualification tag team match on the May 28, 2025 episode of Dynamite, and her performance didn’t escape the wrath of WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray.

Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Bully Ray tore into the match, slamming the execution, the use of weapons, and the lack of preparation.

Cameron teamed with Anna Jay to take on Megan Bayne and Penelope Ford, in what turned into a chaotic match that ended with Cameron “bleeding” during the bout—though that blood was reportedly not real and part of a storyline to explain her upcoming time off. Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline previously confirmed the injury was worked and not legitimate.

But Bully Ray wasn’t buying the theatrics, and he didn’t hold back when calling out the performance.

“After it was all over, you know, it fell short. Harley got busted open. The finish was missed completely. I’d be like girls E for effort. Great job. Putting so much thought into it. Cut it in half. Take 50% of all the stuff that you want to do and get rid of it, because it’s too f*cking much. Nobody is going to remember it.”

He then questioned whether the talent had the skills necessary for such a chaotic stipulation, pointing the blame at AEW producers for letting it happen.

“None of you are experts at using furniture, none of you are experts at swinging chairs. I want to know when these four women ever were able to practice their use of using weapons… I don’t know what makes anybody think that they’re just going to show up on a Wednesday night or a Saturday night and be proficient in this stuff and make it look good.”

Bully also zeroed in on the aftermath of Cameron’s cut and how it affected the rest of the match.

“Harley became so gun shy from that when she was sitting on top of Megan’s shoulders, she was completely folded over because she didn’t want to get hit in the face again, thus creating absolutely no target for Penelope Ford to hit… So it looked really, really, really bad.”

And he placed the final responsibility squarely on AEW’s producers.

“It’s on the producer and the agent to protect the talent from themselves… I don’t give a rat’s ass what you can do in practice. You have to be able to do it on television.”

While Harley Cameron will be off AEW TV for now, the criticism surrounding her performance has certainly left fans wondering whether she’ll come back with a revamped approach—or if AEW will think twice before throwing its rising stars into such matches without preparation.
