Bubba the Love Sponge is opening up about the death of his former close friend Hulk Hogan — revealing he’s heartbroken and carrying regret over how their friendship ended.
While speaking to TMZ, controversial radio personality acknowledged the tension that had grown between him and Hogan over the years, most notably after the infamous sex tape scandal that rocked both of their reputations in 2012. But despite their rift, Bubba says the pain of losing Hogan is hitting hard.
“I’m heartbroken to hear of Terry’s passing. As everyone knows we had our issues and those issues were mostly my fault. I loved him as a friend while he was with us, and will continue to love his memory as a friend going forward.”
He went on to express sorrow that he never had the opportunity to apologize directly to Hogan before his passing.
“I’m saddened that I will never be able to tell him how sorry I am for the way I handled things that created the rift between us. I miss my friend and hope he rests in peace.”
The two were once extremely close, but things unraveled after footage of Hogan sleeping with Bubba’s then-wife, Heather Clem, leaked online. Though there was an alleged agreement between Bubba and Heather at the time, Hogan filed a lawsuit against both of them. That lawsuit eventually settled for $5,000 and a public apology, but the friendship was never repaired.
Just last month, Bubba claimed on his radio show that Hogan’s health had taken a serious dive and family members were preparing for the worst. It was later confirmed that Hogan was not on his deathbed at the time — though now, just weeks later, he’s tragically gone.
Even through the controversy and fallout, Bubba’s words now show a man mourning not just a wrestling icon — but a friend he never made peace with.
