Bubba the Love Sponge is finally admitting what most people have believed for years — the Hulk Hogan sex tape scandal was one of the biggest regrets of his life.
During a recent episode of his YouTube show, Bubba was asked directly if he regrets allowing his wife at the time, Heather Clem, to sleep with Hulk Hogan. The scandal rocked the wrestling world after the footage of their encounter leaked online and led to a legal firestorm that included a lawsuit that bankrupted Gawker Media.
According to Bubba, he deeply regrets everything that happened and explained that his decision was made during an emotionally fragile time for Hogan.
“Well, yes. The answer very simply is yes—uh, times a million. I wish that, uh—you know, Hogan was living with me at the time. It was probably the lowest point of his life. He was living with me. My wife and I had somewhat of an open relationship, and I was trying to cheer my buddy up. And it just—it was a complete mistake on my behalf, and I truly wish it would have never happened.”
Bubba revealed that Hogan had been living with him during a dark time in the wrestling legend’s personal life. He said the idea came from a place of misguided friendship and an open relationship dynamic with his wife. But in hindsight, he knows it was a terrible decision.
This moment of reflection comes shortly after Florida radio host Mike Calta, the man who leaked the sex tape, stated that he has no remorse whatsoever, even after Hulk Hogan’s passing.
The fallout from the sex tape scandal was massive. Hogan sued Gawker for publishing the footage, ultimately winning a $140 million judgment that forced the media company into bankruptcy. It also ended the longtime friendship between Hogan and Bubba, who were once considered inseparable.
Now, with Hulk Hogan gone, Bubba appears to be trying to make peace with his past—admitting fault and finally expressing the kind of remorse fans have waited years to hear.
