AEW All Out 2021 featured the debuts of not just Adam Cole, but Bryan Danielson as well. While people assumed they signed deals long before their debuts, it seems that might not be the case.

While speaking to Nick Stav, Bryan Danielson revealed that both he and Adam Cole signed their AEW contracts very close to the All Out pay-per-view. He explained that despite people believing their debuts were always the plan, he didn’t actually sign until two or three days before the event.

The American Dragon described this as just part of the wrestling business. Danielson added that while Tony Khan may have had ideas in mind, nothing was finalized until the last moment. He also noted that Adam Cole didn’t sign his deal until the actual day of the show, showing just how uncertain things can be in wrestling.

“So, you have to understand—there are a couple of things that were pretty problematic about it. When people say it was always the plan, the truth is I hadn’t actually signed my contract until like two or three days before that. That’s just the pro wrestling business.

So, was it really the plan? Was Tony thinking about it, maybe keeping it in the back of his mind? I don’t know. I want to say Adam Cole didn’t even sign until that day—the day of. Maybe he had agreed to come, but you never really know what’s going to happen, you know?”

The fact that Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole signed their AEW contracts only days, if not hours, before All Out 2021 makes their debuts even more surprising in hindsight. What looked like a perfectly orchestrated plan was really a last-minute decision that came together just in time.
