Reports claimed Brooke Hogan had walked away from Hulk Hogan’s will before his passing and now Brooke Hogan has finally revealed the reason she walked away from the will.
While speaking on Bubba the Love Sponge’s YouTube channel, Brooke Hogan explained why she asked to be removed from Hulk Hogan’s will before his passing. Hogan said she loved her dad a lot, but things changed when he got involved with people and situations that made her uncomfortable.
Brooke was pregnant with twins at the time, married and had a kind family. She felt like she had something to protect and didn’t care about money anymore. She was so upset that she texted Terry McCoy, who handled Hulk Hogan’s finances, and asked to be taken off everything. She didn’t want to be part of it because she felt like she could see something bad coming.
“I don’t know what was ever real. I loved him so much, but when he entered this world—what Mike Ringer had warned me about—and I was now pregnant with twins and married, and my husband’s family is so kind and sweet, and I had something to lose, money didn’t matter. I was like, take me off everything. I was sobbing when I wrote the text to Terry McCoy, the guy who manages his money. I was sobbing, and I just said, take me off everything, I don’t wanna be a part of it. Because I knew, in my mind, this is how the math was gonna work out.”
Brooke Hogan said she was scared that people around her dad might have powerful connections, like Scientology. If anyone in the family got money, she worried it might start a fight or even put them in danger. She didn’t want to fight her mom or get involved in anything shady and so she said she wanted out.
Brooke also hoped her dad would trust her with his brand and image. She wanted to protect it and keep his legacy strong, like Elvis or Marilyn Monroe. But she didn’t think the people around him cared about that. She thought they were more focused on money and didn’t really care about her dad’s health or well-being.
“If Sky is a Scientologist, I know that’s a very powerful backing. I thought, oh my god, if I get left any money or Nick gets any money—no offense—but my mom has been known to find herself in the mix with things like that, and I was like, I don’t wanna fight Linda, fight Scientology. I don’t want someone I love to get knocked off. I don’t know how deep this stuff goes. It scared me, so I just said, I want out.
I hoped my dad at least trusted me with his IP and trademarks and stuff, ‘cause I said I would have upheld his… I would’ve made him an Elvis legacy, Marilyn Monroe legacy. I hope whoever has his trademark does that. I just know the people around him are pretty shady and not in his best interests.”
Finally, Brooke Hogan revealed she sent a strong message to someone in his group, saying no one was helping him make good choices. Instead of telling him to slow down, they kept boosting his ego, and she believed that was killing him in the end.
“I was pretty mad. I wrote someone in that camp a scathing text message saying, no one’s telling him to sit down. Everybody’s there for a paycheck. No one said, ‘Dad, sit down. You don’t need to do this.’ Everyone was egging him on, pumping his ego—and it was killing him.”
At the end of the day, Brooke Hogan did what she felt was right for her own family and she has no regrets over taking her name off her father’s will. No matter what, fans will just have to respect her decision and that’s what mattered to her in the end.
