Bronson Reed’s road to WrestleMania 42 has come to a sudden halt.
The WWE star suffered a distal biceps tear during the February 23 episode of WWE Raw in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Jey Uso and The Original El Grande Americano. The injury occurred when Reed attempted to break up a pinfall late in the match. He was seen being checked on by medical personnel at ringside before the bout concluded with Uso picking up the win. Now, a serious update has emerged regarding Reed’s condition.
According to PW Insider, Reed was sent to Birmingham, Alabama immediately following Raw for further evaluation and treatment. The report states that he is expected to undergo surgery.
“Reed will undergo surgery shortly,” the report noted, assuming it has not already taken place.
The injury appears to be significant, as earlier reporting described Reed’s status as out of action “indefinitely.” There is currently no indication as to how long the WWE star will be off television.
The situation reportedly has major creative implications. Reed was originally planned to win the Elimination Chamber qualifier and factor into WrestleMania 42 storylines. Those plans are now off the table as WWE adjusts heading into one of its biggest shows of the year.
Reed has steadily built momentum over the past year, positioning himself as a major force on the Raw roster. With WrestleMania season underway, this injury comes at the worst possible time. There is no official timetable yet for his return, but surgery and an indefinite absence suggest fans could be waiting months before seeing him back inside a WWE ring.
We wish Bronson Reed a smooth recovery as he begins the rehab process.
