CM Punk may be headed to SummerSlam to face GUNTHER, but behind the scenes, it’s Bron Breakker who’s getting the credit for making that moment possible.
According to Fightful Select, WWE officials were extremely impressed with Breakker’s performance on the July 14 episode of RAW, especially during the gauntlet match that closed out the show. The report states:
“Bron Breakker got a ton of praise for carrying the gauntlet match on Monday Night Raw.”
Breakker was involved in nearly every major elimination in the match, starting things off against Penta and then defeating LA Knight. He later clashed with Jey Uso in a second-generation showdown that ended with interference from Bronson Reed, allowing Breakker to score another elimination.
The final stage saw Breakker take on CM Punk in what was Punk’s first gauntlet match in 14 years. Despite outside distractions from Reed, Punk survived the chaos and managed to hit a GTS for the win—securing a SummerSlam Intercontinental Championship match against GUNTHER. But even in defeat, it was Breakker who carried the load.
CM Punk might be in the spotlight, but Bron Breakker walked away from RAW with the respect of the locker room—and possibly WWE’s top brass.
