WWE may be pulling Brock Lesnar back into action earlier than originally planned following Seth Rollins’ injury—and all signs point to Bron Breakker being the one to benefit.
Rollins was recently pulled from WWE’s Supershow tour in Japan due to a confirmed shoulder injury, and backstage sources now believe surgery may be on the table. With top-level plans in flux, WWE may need to call in The Beast himself ahead of schedule to fill the void.
During Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed the situation and floated Lesnar’s name as someone WWE could pivot to—especially as a major figure to put over a rising star like Breakker.
“He was in WarGames. He was in WarGames. And that was the only date, you know, for now that he was in, other than the TV to set up WarGames, he’d be on that. But yeah, as far as, you know, Saturday night’s main event, he wasn’t on the list. And I don’t think he would have been on that show. And, you know, there’s no other big pay-per-view until Rumble, and I’m sure he would have been in Rumble in some form.
One of the things that you use them [Brock Lesnar] for is to beat, you know, to be beaten by one person on this run, you know, and Bron Breakker would be very high on the list, if not the highest guy on the list to be the guy you pick to do it. I mean, there’s no point in doing it for somebody who’s established at the top, like Drew McIntyre. He actually already did it for Drew McIntyre. The timing just didn’t work out because then we’re in a pandemic. And, you know, your ceiling at that point was terribly low. So it didn’t really benefit him nearly what it could have and probably would have.
But, you know, I mean, that’s just kind of how I would look at it is like, yeah, he’s going to run through some people and, you know, maybe get into a feud here and there. He should wrestle Cody. I mean, if you beat John Cena the way you beat John Cena, you obviously should have a match with Cody. And, you know, maybe they don’t—I don’t know if they know how to get out of that one. You know, obviously that wasn’t the original plan for Survivor Series. You know, everything’s up in the air now, but I would think that—and Cody even mentioned him in a promo—which made me think that that’s a direction they’re going in.”
Lesnar had previously only been internally booked for WarGames, the 2026 Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia, and WrestleMania 42 in Las Vegas. But if Rollins is sidelined long-term, that plan could get fast-tracked. According to Meltzer, a WrestleMania feud isn’t the only thing WWE may have on the table. He pointed to Cody Rhodes as another potential opponent for Lesnar.
With CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and Roman Reigns all entangled in separate top-tier storylines, WWE might be looking at Lesnar as the “bridge” to tie together some major pieces heading into 2026. And given Bron Breakker’s meteoric rise and the way he’s already been booked post-Crown Jewel, a Lesnar match could be the company’s next big “passing of the torch” moment.
Nothing has been made official yet, but the fact that Lesnar is even being discussed again for TV in 2025—outside his Rumble and Mania dates—says a lot about how WWE is adjusting on the fly after Rollins’ removal.
WWE has the pieces for something big. Whether it’s Bron Breakker, Cody Rhodes, or another name entirely, the stage could be set for Lesnar’s early return to play a pivotal role in reshaping the main event picture.
