Britt Baker’s AEW future has been the center of heated speculation, but it looks like those rumors may have been blown out of proportion.

After reports surfaced claiming Baker is “wildly unpopular” in the AEW women’s locker room and that Tony Khan might be done booking her, Bryan Alvarez stepped in to set the record straight.

“From talking to multiple people within AEW, the Britt Baker stories all over the Internet today appear to be blown way out of proportion,” Alvarez wrote to his subscribers on Twitter/X. “She’s not being used and there don’t appear to be any imminent plans, but there’s nothing to her being finished with the company.”

While Baker hasn’t wrestled since November 13, 2024, when she defeated Penelope Ford on Dynamite, there were signs that AEW was setting up a program between her and Serena Deeb. After that match, Baker was heard saying, “Nobody cares,” dismissing Deeb’s presence, and Deeb later wore a shirt with the same phrase on Collision in December. However, neither Baker nor Deeb have competed in AEW since then.

While Alvarez is downplaying the situation, Ringside News previously reported in September 2024 that Britt Baker had some type of tension with Mercedes Mone. Wade Keller’s recent report stating that Baker has been difficult to work with and that AEW officials are “over it” somewhat is in line with that earlier report. While AEW may not have formally cut ties with her, the fact that she hasn’t been used in months and has no creative plans raises more questions than answers.

Baker herself hasn’t directly addressed her absence, but she did mention in December on Diamond Dallas Page’s YouTube channel that she had been “filming some fun stuff” during her time away from AEW.

For now, it seems there’s no major fallout between Baker and AEW, but her future on television remains uncertain. Whether this is just a creative lull or something bigger remains to be seen.

Britt Baker’s AEW future isn’t as dramatic as some reports made it seem, but the fact remains—she’s off TV, and there’s no clear plan for her return. Whether this is just a temporary creative lull or a sign that AEW is moving in a new direction without her, only time will tell. For now, Baker seems content doing her own thing, but if and when she does come back, all eyes will be on how AEW handles her return.
