Britt Baker fans were left concerned when the former AEW Women’s World Champion was forced to miss the October 8 edition of AEW Dynamite due to illness.
Baker was originally set to face Willow Nightingale in a number one contender’s match for the AEW Women’s World Championship, but just hours before the show, AEW President Tony Khan announced the match’s cancellation, citing Baker’s inability to travel.
In a recent update, Britt Baker took to social media to assure her fans that she’s on the mend. The AEW star, known for her toughness, explained her condition and thanked her supporters for their well wishes:
“Hey guys, it’s Dr. Britt Baker, DMD. I just wanted to check in and thank everybody so much for the get well messages. I don’t need you to worry because I am okay. I just have strep throat. I sound way worse than I actually feel. I feel so much better now. Two days ago, I was dying but now, we’re good. I went to urgent care, got tested, got strep, took antibiotics, got an IV, a shot—I’m good. I’m good.”
Baker’s update provides relief to her fans, who can now look forward to her eventual return to action. Though she had to miss the important match, her health is improving, and she remains in good spirits as she recovers.
Meanwhile, Willow Nightingale ended up defeating Saraya, Nyla Rose, and Jamie Hayter in a high-stakes four-way match, and will now go on to challenge AEW Women’s World Champion Mariah May at AEW WrestleDream.
