Britt Baker has been missing from AEW programming since November 2024, and while fans have spent the past year speculating on her status—ranging from injury to a possible WWE jump—it now looks like her absence comes down to one simple fact: there are still no plans to bring her back.

Back in November 2025, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp reported that although Baker was still signed to AEW, “there are currently no creative plans in motion to bring her back.” That update came on the heels of Tony Khan confirming she was still with the company despite her deleting AEW mentions from social media and skipping a Pittsburgh show—something that caught fans’ attention, given the city’s connection to her brand. Khan tried to calm speculation at the time, stating:

“Britt Baker, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D., and what a great star in AEW Dr. Britt Baker has been and she is still a fantastic, fantastic wrestling star and she’s been away from AEW for a while but still very much with us and at some point, hopefully soon, I’d love to see Dr. Britt Baker come back.”

But now, Sean Ross Sapp has doubled down with an January 3, 2026 update during his Fightful Select Q&A Show. And this one might put to rest any lingering hopes of an imminent return.

“At this point, I don’t think that we’re going to see her back. Her deal goes well into 2026, but it’s been over a year. And at least the last time I spoke with her, she indicated that she was healthy—and that’s been like ages and ages ago.”

Asked if there were any internal conversations about her return, Sapp made it clear:

“I’ve heard no discussions regarding her in a long time outside of when we ask on media calls. I just… I don’t think it’s going to happen.”

Britt Baker’s last AEW match was a win over Penelope Ford on Dynamite in November 2024. She has reportedly been cleared to wrestle for some time, but AEW has yet to put her into any creative plans.

At this point, Baker’s contract status might not matter if the company simply isn’t interested in using her. Whether it’s a slow-burn setup or a disconnect behind the scenes, one thing is becoming clear—the Doctor might not be making house calls anytime soon.

Do you think AEW is making a mistake by keeping Britt Baker off TV this long? Should they bring her back for a storyline reboot, or has her time at the top passed? Sound off in the comments below.
