Social media is once again at the center of manufactured drama in the wrestling world—this time involving AEW stars Britt Baker and MJF.
A fake quote falsely attributed to Baker has gone viral, sparking heated fan reactions and fueling old rumors that simply aren’t backed by facts. The quote making the rounds shows a photo of Baker mid-conversation, with the caption reading:
“I would rather hang out with people who are not egomaniacs and backstabbers.”
The post claims Baker said this in response to not being invited to MJF’s recent wedding, and cites a vague source labeled “TMB.” But there’s no video, interview, or even a social media trail to support the quote. That’s because it’s completely made up.
Ringside News can confirm that Britt Baker never made this statement. There is no known podcast appearance, press interview, or tweet from her containing these words. The viral image is nothing more than an attempt to fabricate drama between two AEW stars with a rocky past.
While there is real-life tension between Baker and MJF, this quote is not a reflection of it. Back in 2023, reports surfaced of a backstage altercation between the two after alleged personal remarks were made involving MJF and his wife, Alicia Atout. According to sources, the confrontation escalated, MJF punched a wall, and HR briefly got involved. Baker was suspended for a short time, but both parties moved on.
This latest hoax appears to be an effort to reignite those tensions and manipulate fans into thinking the feud is still boiling. But nothing about the quote is genuine, and there’s no evidence that Baker has made any public statements about MJF’s wedding—or MJF at all—since that incident.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time fake quotes have circulated in wrestling circles. With fanbases as passionate and divided as AEW’s, it doesn’t take much for a single post to blow up and take on a life of its own—even if it’s built on a lie.
So before reacting to viral posts online, ask yourself: Is it from a credible source? Is there a video or interview attached? If not, it might just be another cheap attempt to stir the pot.
